Ludwig Hurtado is a writer, filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist.

He is an editor at The Nation magazine.

Ludwig hosted MOLD Magazine’s Food Futures podcast.

Hurtado’s work has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, NBC News, Bon Appetit, The Atlantic’s CityLab, Vice, The Nation, Paper, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, i_D, Them, The Face, and other publications.

Ludwig is the founder and editor-in-chief of PLAY, a queer food and art mutual aid project.

His first book, BAD FOODIES, is forthcoming with Beacon Press.

He is developing both scripted and unscripted film and television projects.

In 2021, Ludwig was selected as one of 17 emerging filmmakers in DOC NYC’s Storytelling Incubator.

Ludwig’s work has been recognized with an Edward R Murrow award, a GLAAD media award, and a Webby award. He’s a member of the National Association for Hispanic Journalists, the Queer Producers Network, and the Video Consortium.

Ludwig has given talks at Columbia University, UCLA, Bard College, and The City University of New York.

His artistic practice includes screenwriting, photo illustration, animation, virtual reality, painting, sculpture, and design.
